Can I plug in my refrigerator (or freezers) immediately after delivery?

If the appliance has been delivered to your home in a horizontal position, stand it upright and then wait at least 2 hours before plugging it in. A small amount of oil may have flowed into the refrigeration circuit, and you must allow time for this to flow back towards the motor before connecting the appliance. Failure to do so may damage the appliance.

 

FREEZERS

How should I set the thermostat of my freezer (or refrigerator)?

Your appliance’s internal temperature is closely linked to the ambient temperature,

how frequently the door is opened and the amount and temperature of the food you have put in your appliance.

Use average temperature settings to ensure optimum performance and to save energy. In case of need, you can adjust the temperature.

Please remember that very low temperatures will not only consume a great deal of energy, but will neither improve nor lengthen the storage life of the food.

What should I do in case of power failure?

Your appliance has an autonomy of several hours (from 10 to 20 hours depending on appliance type – information can be found on data plate of your appliance). In case of power failure or breakdown, do not open the appliance door or lid. This will help maintain the temperature inside the freezer, ensuring goods conservation for the longest possible time. The autonomy varies also depending on frozen food quantity inside the appliance (if only half filled, the temperature will rise more rapidly) and frozen food portions (for example big blocks of meat will best help maintain the temperature)

Why ice is forming rapidly inside my freezer?

An excessive amount of ice may form inside your freezer if the door is opened too often, or is left open for long periods of time, if the door seal is damaged, if something is preventing the door to close properly or if the thermostat is not set correctly for the surrounding conditions.

Hot food should not be placed inside your freezer as this will provoke ice to form.

Defrost your freezer when a layer of frost and ice 5-6mm thick has formed inside your freezer.

This thickness of ice prevents your freezer from operating correctly, reduces its efficiency and causes it to consume more energy.

What is Fast Freeze (or Super Freeze) function?

The Fast freeze or Super freeze function, allows the compressor to function continuously in order to reach the necessary temperatures for the rapid freezing of fresh food.

For optimal performance, set the appliance to super freeze position 12 to 24 hours before you put the fresh food into the freezer. ”Super Freeze” mode should be deactivated after 24-48 hours in order to save energy.

Why should I choose a freezer with white internal tank?

A white enameled internal tank is sturdy and durable, highly hygienic, easy to clean, anti-rust, anti-smell and stain-resistant while providing the maximum freezing performance.

 

REFRIGERATORS and COMBI

Why droplets of water or ice form on the rear wall of my appliance?

This is normal and is part of the cooling cycle. Periodically, frost forms on the back wall and it is regularly eliminated in the form of water during your appliance automatic defrost cycle.

Why is there some water at the back of the appliance?

Water on the rear wall of cooling appliances naturally form as part of the cooling cycle. If some water stagnates at the back, the drain hole might be blocked by some food. Clean the drain hole on the rear wall and make sure nothing is blocking the outflow of the water.

Do I need to leave some space behind or around my appliance?

In case of free-standing appliances, you should maintain a minimum distance between your appliance and the other units: 5 to 10 cm. at the back, 3 to 5cm at the sides, or 10cm if your appliance is close to a wall, and 10cm above to ensure good circulation of air all around the appliance.

WASHING

WASHING MACHINES

Why is my washing machine excessively vibrating or walking during spinning or is off balance?

Your machine may not have been installed properly or there might be an issue with the load of laundry.

Please check that the transport bolts have been properly removed, that all four feet have been adjusted in order to make firm contact with the floor and your machine is level. Do not install the machine on a wooden platform (like a pallet) or on a carpet and do not insert carboard, wood or other materials under the machine to level it.

Please make sure you have not overloaded your machine with an excessive laundry amount and that laundry is evenly spread in the drum.

In case you are washing a small amount of laundry or a single bulky item (such as a duvet), vibrations or off balance are normal.

Avoid overload, small amounts of laundry or single items washing cycles.

Why clothes should be washed inside out?

Turning the clothes inside out before putting them in the washing machine will reduce wear and tear of delicate fabrics and protect embroidery, beads and prints while cleaning results will remain unchanged.

Why the spin cycle sometimes does not seem to be carried out properly?

In case of overload or unbalanced laundry inside the drum, the spin cycle may not be carried out properly and this could result in wet clothes at the end of the cycle.

How do I sort clothes for washing?

Separate your laundry according to fabric (cotton, synthetic, sensitive, wool etc), washing temperature (cold, 30°, 40°, 60°, 90°) and the degree of dirtiness)

Follow the instructions given in the care labels on the clothing.

Never wash coloured and white laundry together as dark textiles may contain excess dye and could stain light-coloured clothes.

Before putting laundry in your machine, make sure all zips are closed and pockets contain no object.

When should I use pre-wash?

Use the pre-wash feature only for very dirty laundry.

Do not use it in case of lightly soiled laundry. This will help you save on the amount of electricity and water consumed.

Why does program length not correspond to duration shown in the user manual table?

Programs duration may vary according to many factors, like the amount of laundry, type of laundry, selected temperature, ambient temperature, tap water’s hardness and selected additional functions.

 

WASHER DRYERS

Did you know?

The cost of a drying cycle is very low (4 KwH on an average), you avoid hanging out laundry and taking it back in and empowers you to reduce ironing. Indeed a tumble dryer will grant you softer and less wrinkled laundry thus enabling you to completely avoid ironing it or to shorten ironing time. A decrease in ironing time will lower your energy consumption while giving you some extra time to spend with your family.

Just make sure to set a washing program with minimum spin speed 800 rpm

 

DISHWASHERS

Did you know?

An intensive 65-70°C program (149-158°F) will result in perfectly clean dishes with the addition of an efficient antibacterial action that you could not achieve with hand washing.

Why does some detergent remain in the dispenser at the end of the cycle?

Check that nothing is blocking the detergent dispenser from opening completely.

Check that the water inlet filter is clean and nothing is reducing the water inlet power.

Always clean the dispenser from detergent leftovers as old detergent will not dissolve well in the next cycle as air will cause old detergent to dry and clump.

Why do I need to put salt in my dishwasher?

Dishwasher salt will soften the hard water entering the machine. This will help the detergent to dissolve and will result into a better cleaning performance.

The harder is the water entering your dishwasher, the more dishwasher salt you will need to add.

Can I use table salt instead of dishwasher salt?

The use of table salt in a dishwasher should be avoided as its fine granule size could block the softener circuit and damage your dishwasher. Dishwasher salt granules are larger than table salt granules ensuring that the salt dissolves slowly. They also contain specific additives to improve the efficiency of the water softening action.

Why should I add rinse aid to the dispenser?

Rinse aid is essential to obtain good drying results as it helps remove water from your dishes by removing the surface tension of water.

Being water repellant, rinse aid will help your dried dishes to show water spots, which are provoked by minerals, such as limestone or chalk, that are left behind as water evaporates off a surface.

Make sure to fill the dispenser before you use your new dishwasher, even if you are using all in one detergent tabs, especially in you live in very hard water areas.

How should I choose the correct pot / pan to use on a certain burner?

Pots and pans should be chosen according to the dimension of the burner you are using in order to optimize its heating power.

Using a small pot on a big burner will result in a waste of power and a useless dispersion of heat.

Make sure to center the pot properly on the cooking zone you are using and that the flame does not exceed the pot’s sides.

Suggested pot diameter and cooking burner:

  • Triple-burners or ultra-rapid burners: 24 cm. pot / pan and bigger
  • Rapid burner: from 18 to 24 cm. pot / pan
  • Semi-rapid burner: from 12 to 18 cm. pot / pan
  • Auxiliary burner: smaller pots and pans (smaller than 12 cm.)

BUILT-IN OVENS

Why the fan continues to operate after the oven has been turned off?

This is normal. Its function is to reduce the temperature of the outer oven walls to guarantee the protection of your kitchen furniture and prevent overheating. The cooling fan starts during the cooking cycle and continues to work also after the cooking is over, until the cooling cycle has been completed.

What is the function of catalytic panels?

Catalytic panels are highly porous self-cleaning panels that can absorb and remove grease and food deposits at cooking temperatures above 200°C. Afterwards, it is enough to use a damp cloth to remove all food residue.

How does induction work?

An induction hob generates a magnetic field between the cooktop and the pot. The generated energy is converted into heat that is directed directly to the pot while the cooktop remains rather cool. An induction hob is very efficient and much faster to heat (water boils in about half the time) than any other hob

Do I need special pots and pans for an induction hob?

Yes, pan and pots must be made of ferromagnetic material in order to work on an induction hob.

A magnet can be used to check whether a pot is suitable for induction or not.

Is induction safe?

Yes, induction is quite safe. Since the heat is transmitted directly to the pot, the cooking table does not heat much.

At the end of your cooking, the cooktop will cool rapidly (once the pot is removed) thanks to the cooling fan which is activated after use.

Once the pot is removed, the hob will turn off automatically and there is no risk to turn the hob on accidentally if there is no pot on the cooking zone.

Why an induction hob is more efficient than other hob types?

With an induction hob, the pot itself becomes the heat generator so very little energy is wasted (induction uses up to 90% of the generated heat while with other kind of hobs much of the energy is wasted) .

In fact, water boils in about half the time.

As soon as you remove the pot, the hob will stop heating and the cooktop will cool off rapidly.

How does an induction hob work?

When the pot touches the glass cooktop of an induction hob, an electric current is generated by a magnetic field and the pot bottom starts heating.

Only pots and pans made from ferromagnetic materials can be used on induction hobs. You can check this out by putting a magnet in contact with the bottom of your pan: if the magnet sticks to the pan, this is suitable for induction hobs.

Which pots or pans are suitable for us on an induction hob?

Only pots and pans made from ferromagnetic materials (cast iron, stainless steel, enameled steel) are suitable to use with an induction hob.

Non-ferromagnetic materials (like glass, ceramic, copper, aluminium and so no) will not work on an induction hob as no magnetic field can be generated between the hob and the pot.
